Another thing I read while studying... Back story here- Growing up I was only told negative things about therapy/ counseling. It was bad. They (the counselors) did more harm than good. They would plan false memories into your head. It doesn't help. The list goes on and on. No wonder I refused to go when Bishop M suggested it. Eventually I came around and boy have the tables turned!
This is a simple, yet great, explanation of general goals of therapy:
- Changing the person's inaccurate assumptions about himself and the world around him.
- Helping the person achieve a clear sense of who he is.
- All of these changes will help the troubled person towards a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
